So how did the name "America" come about? · 20 April 08

Having been to the lovely towns of Bath and Bristol lately, I’ve discovered an interesting fact of America’s history which seems to greatly differ from that taught in schools presently. It is taught that it was named after Amerigo Vespucci as he made his travel to what we now know as America. However, Vespucci’s role in the naming issue, like his exploratory activity, is unclear. Some sources say that he was unaware of the widespread use of his name to refer to the new landmass.
When I was touring Bristol I was informed by the locals there that America is derived from a Welsh merchant from Bristol named Richard Amerike. This theory first proposed by a Bristol antiquary and naturalist, Alfred Hudd, believed that Richard Amerike had financed John Cabot’s voyage of discovery from England to Newfoundland in 1497 as found in some documents from Westminster Abbey a few decades ago. Supposedly, Bristol fishermen had been visiting the coast of North America for at least a century before Columbus’ voyage!!

There is a further speculative theory, tending to be found only in support of the above theory concerning the naming of America, that the flag of the United States of America is influenced in part by the design of Amerike’s coat of arms. According to the American Flag Research Centre in Massachusetts, the heraldic origin of the American flag is not positively known. The popular belief however is that it derives in part from the coat of arms of George Washington, whose family bore arms of the Stars and Stripes. Amerike’s coat of arms, which also feature a stars and stripes design!!

It's Elections time! · 13 February 08

woot woot, get yourselves out there to vote people of Malaysia. It’s important the younger generation become more aware of some of the political issues in our country and actively vote because it’s YOUR right!

Anyways that aside, Edison Chen is a bit of a joke ….isn’t he?
Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson…. the list goes on, butttt don’t people ever realise recordings of events are going to come out if you make one mistake. A little goes a long way here, and come on, destroying the careers of all your victims of your little sexual fetish is a bit cruel no?

Sometimes things like these are best left exactly where they were originally. In your head.

Life itself unfolds in mysterious ways · 27 January 08

So I’m told. My God has blessed me so much and I have everything to thank him for in 2007 and as 2008 unfolds, I have yet to learn so much, new experiences, new people , new ideas and a new found spontaneous streak that wishes to lash out at the first thing that comes into my mind and embrace it to completion. There are so many things to do and yet time seems so hard to catch and hold down. I think I need to continue my study of music and the ignite the passion that I once had.
I need to do this. It’s the only way.

Here’s Sungha Jung, one of the most talented guitarists I have ever seen especially at his age. I hope you’re as awed as I am.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year 2008 everyone! · 10 January 08

Woah this thing is collecting dust, so here’s some fresh text! Hope you all had a fantastic 2007 and an even better 2008! I’ve been so busy with work, travelling and facebook sorta kills this a bit but I thought all you avid blog readers should know, i’m alive and well!

GOGO Chelsea, and in a way Liverpool :P · 7 March 07

Well Chelsea beat porto 2-1 at the bridge and also won 3-2 eventually on aggregate meaning we are through to the final 8! And Barcelona are not! Props to Liverpool for winning on aggregate (away goals) and see themselves through as well to the final 8. Two intense games and yes…..we are gonna be Champions!

Other than that, I’m off to play golf now :P
